Wendigo8 means nothing. In fact, wendigo8 is not a monster nor a dog food's brand. When i composed this tune i was thinking that i had not many hollydays and that i had not many time to compose tunes as before.. Now i think that i don't have many hollydays, that i don't have as much time as before to compose tunes and that things i am writing down here are totally useless and senseless.. In fact, i just want to fill up this page, to give the impression of a complete site you know...
Anyway.. let's talk about the snow! -/- When composing this tune i was thinking of full of snow landscapes.. To give this impression, the strings at the beginning were not sufficient. So i added a wolf yell! I know this is a easy way but i don't know inuit musical scales or whatever! =) -/- As allways i began this tune with many many ideas of breaks, variations and such.. And it ended, like the others, quite repetitive since i allways want to quickly finish my tunes! I have no patience.

Anders' comment:
The silent howling heard early on in the soft gliding opening section of "Wendigo 8", has a surprising effect. Unfortunately there is no apparent follow up, and this keeps me waiting for something that never shows up. As the melody starts building up, about a minute later, several new elements are introduced. At first there's only a soft sine or such. Then some piano chording and arpeggio-arrangements are added. On top of this, there's an eerie flute, a la Portishead. Only, here it's been used in a melancholic, rather than spooky manner. The entire production feels extremely gloomy, but in a positive way. The most interesting part is the innovative beat which is some sort of 3/4 beat, but it's hard to tell. It has, however, been arranged in a soft free flowing manner, with small outbursts on the snares. Just the right amount of variation. The harmony progression is difficult to grasp, as it's quite unique, and soft. The chimes and other gentle sounds manage to create a spheric and dreamy piece. Also, the last bar reveals another howling sound. The one I was waiting for all along. Splendid!

Lisa's comment:
Eerie, suggestive strings and some wolf howling (at the moon?) start out, as Wendigo8 sweeps in through my speakers. The mood is that of melancholy and solemness, performed by acoustic guitars, soft synths and occasional piano chords. The latter are a bit too harsh for the overall atmosphere, though, and need to be toned down a bit - alternatively, given some softening effects. At around 1.30, there's a really eerie synth sound, that underlines the original mood set. The beat is waltz-ish, giving the song a tender, lulling feeling - highly appropriate for the song, and for our heavenly purposes. I wonder what the title means, since I find the title rather important for the rest of the song. Generally, a very good piece of music, but limited by the poor sample quality. But hey, you can only do so much in a tracker, right?!

Review by Hannes: I especially liked the theremin-sounding lead. It's nice to listen to a song in 6/8 time for a change. The double-time sections contrasted nicely with the rest of the song.
Arrengement
: 8/10
Arrengement comment: The mixing is ok, except the electric pianos (?) near the end are too loud. The pannings are good, except the acoustic guitar maybe should be a little nearer to the center. The structure works really well, the transitions are smooth.
Sample quality: 8/10
Overall Impression: 8/10
Review: A very beatiful, but also quite sad light rock song, but not very easy-listening actually. The intro is almost ambient and the rest of the song is a bit ambitious. Anyway, I like it. It's technically pretty good and definitely worth downloading.
Creativity: 9/10
Creativity comment: The chord progressions are good and interesting, and the leads are excellent.
